We heart Portland.
We feel lucky to live in Portland and we are excited that our out of town guests will be able to get a taste of the city we love to live in.
The Paramount Hotel

We've reserved a block or rooms at the Paramount Hotel a few blocks away from the Reception Site. It is a very classy smaller hotel in the heart of downtown Portland. Located on the max line and a couple of blocks away from the Streetcar line, it is centrally located for mass transit traveling from the airport, to the zoo, to Powells Books, the Saturday Market, the Farmer's Market, the Pearl District, shopping downtown, coffee, food and drink, and (of course) the wedding and reception sites. The Gonzales/Bunker group rate is $159 a night for the Deluxe Room (two queens or one king) for adult double occupancy. Kids stay free. Additional adults are $15 each. Cribs are available upon request (no charge) and additional rollaway's are available for $15 each. If you're feeling fancy, you can also upgrade to an Executive Room with a balcony and jacuzzi tub.

Hotel Moderna

The Paramount block is filling up fast and we have just discovered a new, hip and quite affordable option conveniently located between the St. Michael’s (2 blocks away) and the reception site (OHS, 4 blocks away). It is a newly remodeled modern structure that has some fancy courtyards. The provide a “European Continental Breakfast” with eggs, meat and pastries. Their rooms start at $149 for a king bed with two doubles going for a few dollars more. There are also still suites available. We are chatting with them about a group rate, but they usually don’t do group rates (they *just* opened, so they may be flexible). It seems like a very nice/hip and affordable option.

And More...
There are a number of very cool small boutique hotels nearby. For the more adventurous types, try the Ace Hotel which is very reasonable has a fantastic and reasonably priced restaurant below called the Clyde Commons (who knew "communist" food could be so indulgent?), Hotel Deluxe for those who can't get away from Hollywood for the weekend, and the Hotel Lucia for the those who like it fancy in the Portland hip kind of way. And, of course, if you want a uniquely Portland experience, try any of the many McMenamins.
